"I know the fair board has worked really hard to bring good quality, family, friendly events to the facility this year and truly appreciate the overwhelming support they have received this year! They hope to continue having Donkey Ball as an annual event that everyone looks forward to," she said. "I know we really enjoyed watching it, but we also enjoyed watching and listening to the announcer Heather Fehd as she laughed at the game and at herself, all while trying to continue announcing! People that have never seen the game or need a good laugh and enjoyable time with their family, this is the place to be!" Weber said. Now that people have seen it, the buzz seems to be positive. "It’s something different and something refreshing," Weber said.Ĭounty Parks Director Mitzi Weber said, "Last year no one had heard of Donkey Ball and no one knew what to expect. While the human players are from this area, the animals are from a group called the Circle A Donkey Ball in Henry, Tennessee. We just tell them to not expect anything and go out there and have fun," Weber said. "Some have played before and couple are new players. This year's teams are the returning Swamp Donkeys being coached by Adrian Roberts, and the challengers, the Wonky Donkeys, sponsored by Riverview Coal and coached by Ricky and Crystal Childress. We scheduled the game, and after putting it on Facebook that we needed teams, within 48 hours we had two teams," he said. For me, I will stick with the maple syrup."During a fairboard meeting, the members were unanimous in their decision to bring them back. They dipped their sausage and cream cheese appetizer in their sauce and loved it. They came up with a concoction of 1/2 maple syrup and 1/2 barbecue sauce. My husband and daughter opted for a dipping sauce. Wouldn’t you like to take one off the plate and have one? So yummy and satisfying. I tried one plain and while it was good, I immediately thought it would be better with a drizzle of maple syrup. My husband and I were lucky enough to have her make extra and bring some over. She made these for the first time when camping. This is a fun recipe to make for gatherings. However, they are packed with flavor and will soon become not only the talk of the party, but one of the requested recipes. These sausage and cream cheese bites have a funny name “donkey balls”.
